Worcester, Massachusetts — A recent report ranked Massachusetts as the most popular state for busy moms. The WalletHub research reviewed 17 key metrics in all 50 states to establish the top spot, such as Childcare Quality, the number of child care workers per child, parental-leave policies, and the average length of a woman’s work week.
Additionally, the state is top of its child care system and work-life balance. The group Central Mass mother reported that while the state is advancing in the right direction, however, there would be a lot of work to be completed to help busy mothers.
"I think the way that a lot of moms look at things right now is that it still feels really, really challenging to be a working mom,” said Central Mass Mom Owner and CEO Annie O’Malley. “And I think we continue to see moms leaving the workforce because it's just too hard to manage. We have better maternity leave than most places in the country. And we're very lucky in that regard. But it still is not a ton of time to recover from, you know, a major life event and oftentimes a major surgery."
O’Malley reported that more needs to be on to help mothers’ journey with their mental health in post-partum. The study shows that Connecticut ranked as second, and Rhode Island third, for busy moms.
