Indian criminal defence lawyer Vijay Aggarwal, who has represented several high-profile individuals including fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi and businessman Nirav Modi, has reportedly been detained by British authorities in London amid allegations concerning immigration violations and separate sexual assault complaints.
According to reports, Aggarwal was detained following an inspection by UK immigration authorities at a property in Mayfair, London, where he is alleged to have operated an office-cum-residence.
The reported immigration action followed a complaint by the property's landlord, according to accounts circulating about the incident.
