Joao Pedro scored his first Premier League hat-trick as Chelsea arrived from below to whack host Aston Villa 4-1 on Wednesday, March 4, increasing Liverpool in the table as the race for Champions League places the following season heats up. Douglas Luiz gave Villa an early lead; therefore, it was good as they received it, as Chelsea started to challenge the competition.

Pedro’s treble took his goal tally to 14 in the Premier League this season, while Cole Palmer was also on the scoresheet for the visitors in Chelsea’s outstanding performance under the recent manager, Liam Rosenior. The home took the role as the lead for two minutes as Leon Bailey’s scuffed cross found its way to Luiz, who reached his first goal in over two years. Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen made a wise decision to refuse Ollie Watkins; however, the visitors gradually took control of the competition and were level at 35 minutes. Malo Gusto dethroned the offside trap, and his under-ball across the six-yard box became perfect for Pedro to score into the net.

That dominance extended into the second half as Palmer gained a third when Villa keeper Emi Martinez forced the ball into his path as he endeavored to transport a cross. Pedro finished his hat-trick with a simple goal as Alejandro Garnacho avoided defending the Villa, and his square ball gave the Brazilian a tap-in. He has nine goals so far in his soccer career across all competitions.
