Pittsfield, Massachusetts — On February 17, Governor Maura Healey awarded over $140 Million for a new residency in Massachusetts. The funding arrives from two housing programs, helping the transition of derelict commercial buildings into housing. Healey announced the news at the North Park Square Residences in Pittsfield, a former bank building.
"This is a new strategy for the administration. When we first started, we looked around, and there were just too many vacant buildings. We had office space that wasn’t being used,” said Healey. “We had mill space in some instances. You know, we just have buildings. Buildings by the way with beautiful bones, beautiful structure that just needed a little focus and attention, and what better use for them than to create housing.”
