Kehlani released “Out The Window” on November 7, 2025, via Atlantic Records to give her a classic 2000s throwback R&B sound with the following announcement on Social Media, and her breakthrough hit, Folded.
Antonio Dixon and Khris Riddick-Tynes produced “Out the Window”. They found Kehlani desperately trying to give her former significant other another chance: “Baby, I want you/I’m focused, it’s overdue/Don’t throw it out the window.”
Kehlani does not only suggest her romantic partner for grace; she wants to take responsibility for her own actions in order to move forward. “The late nights, the half-truths / I was reckless / Let me prove to you / I’ll throw them out the window,” she sings with persuasion.
Rated R&B stated that “Out The Window” is a gratifying follow-up to “Folded” that creates the comprehensive story viewers see in this era – “Whereas ‘Folded’ is more of an indirect plea to rekindle things, “Out the Window” sounds like Kehlani is standing outside of her ex’s place, singing in the rain. The slight rasp in her voice intensifies the emotional lyrics.”
“Out the Window” is Kehlani’s second single of the year, and “Folded” peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 in the week of November 15, 2025, which earned her first top 10 hit in her music career. Both songs would be featured on her upcoming album, which would follow 2024’s Crash.
