The final week of October brought zombies to downtown Worcester – however they did not come here for tricks or treats.
The filming of the Walking Dead spin-off series, The Walking Dead: Dead City, took place in Worcester on October 29 and October 30, according to the police department. During the filming occasions, some roads were closed, said the department.
On October 29 and October 30, Franklin Street from Main to Portland Street, alongside Federal Street, was closed from 6 am to 12 pm.
Mechanic Street was also closed from 1 pm to 8 pm, however, on October 29, according to the department.
On Monday afternoon, workers heard yelling at each other as they organized the show at Franklin Street outside the Jean McDonough Arts Center (JMAC).
The arts center was concealed by scaffolding and a wall that appeared like a traffic light, a train, two newspaper boxes, and many street signs.
Near to the scaffolding were two cars assembled on top of each other. On Underneath was a yellow New York City Taxi cab, its foreground door crushed like a soda can. On the top of the cab is a blue-and-white New York Police Department car, with below half covered in what looks like oil stains.
In September, Worcester’s streets were transformed into a post-apocalyptic world for the filming of the show’s third season.
Regardless of the dark and depressing cityscape, fans of the show’s main actor, Jeffery Dean Morgan, were joyful when he took pictures with them after shooting a film on Norwich street.
“There’s a lot of Worcester!” Morgan screamed.
