Worcester, Massachusetts – On February 27, the City of Worcester wanted to create a settlement with the town over sewer rate charges. Earlier that month, the state’s highest court denied reviewing the city’s appeal of a court ruling last year, which found the city had overpriced Holden by millions of dollars over 15 years. Worcester city manager Eric Batista explained that the city aims to make an agreement.
"We have continued conversations with Holden in trying to find a resolution to the matter,” said Batista. “Our hope is that we can, as part of the conversations and communications with the town of Holden, our hope is that we can come to a resolution sooner rather than later because the interest continues to accrue as part of this process."
The attorney explained that Holden had characterized the city as being charged $35 million, an increase of $8 million from the court order last year.
