Pudu Robotics D5: A Game-Changing Quadruped Robot for Industrial Automation

Masoud Pajouh, Jadetimes Contributor

In a significant advancement for industrial automation, Pudu Robotics has introduced the D5, a next-generation quadruped robot engineered to operate seamlessly across logistics, inspection, security, and research environments. The launch marks a major step forward in the evolution of autonomous mobile robotics, particularly for industries seeking adaptable solutions beyond traditional wheeled systems.

Powered by a robust dual-computing architecture featuring NVIDIA Orin and RK3588 processors, the D5 delivers up to 275 TOPS of AI performance. This high level of computational power enables real-time data processing, advanced decision-making, and intelligent navigation, allowing the robot to function efficiently in complex and dynamic industrial environments.

The D5 is equipped with a sophisticated perception system that integrates dual 360° LiDAR sensors with fisheye cameras, ensuring full environmental awareness without blind spots. This advanced sensor fusion allows for centimeter-level positioning accuracy, real-time obstacle avoidance, and detailed 3D mapping, making it highly reliable for safety-critical applications.

Designed for real-world deployment, the robot demonstrates exceptional mobility and durability. It can climb steps up to 25 cm, navigate inclines of up to 30 degrees, and operate at high speeds across uneven terrain. With an IP67 rating, the D5 is built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, including dust, rain, and extreme temperatures, ensuring consistent performance across various industrial settings.

In addition to its core capabilities, the D5 features modular expandability, remote fleet management, and intuitive human-robot interaction through voice and gesture controls. These features make it a highly flexible and scalable solution, positioning the D5 as a powerful example of how intelligent robotics is reshaping modern industrial operations.
