Authorities in Monaco and France continued investigating today's parcel bomb explosion that injured Ukrainian businessman Vadym Iermolaiev and members of his family. Prosecutors now believe the attack was a targeted attempted assassination rather than an act of terrorism, prompting an international investigation involving multiple European law enforcement agencies.

The explosive device detonated after a package was delivered to the family's residence. Emergency services quickly responded, treating the victims before transferring them to nearby hospitals. Officials said all injured individuals are receiving medical care, although investigations into the motive remain ongoing.

French police have launched a search for the suspected attacker, who reportedly fled across the border shortly after the explosion. Security agencies are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses while forensic experts examine evidence recovered from the scene.

The victim, a businessman with commercial interests in both Ukraine and Monaco, has previously faced sanctions from Ukrainian authorities over business activities linked to Crimea. Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects or confirmed whether the incident is connected to business, political, or personal disputes.

European governments have condemned the attack and pledged cooperation to identify those responsible. Security around high-profile individuals in Monaco has also been strengthened as a precaution.

The incident has renewed concerns about the use of targeted attacks against wealthy business figures living in Europe. Analysts note that such investigations often involve cooperation between several countries because suspects, financial records, and digital evidence frequently cross international borders.

Authorities say the investigation remains in its early stages, and additional updates are expected as forensic examinations continue.
